All Reservoir High School Music Department students who meet the eligibility requirements below are encouraged to submit applications for the RHS Music Foundation Summer Music Program Scholarship.
Reservoir High School Music Department students must have participated in their respective music departments during the previous school year in high school. Music departments are defined as Choral and/or Instrumental ensembles listed within this application.
Completely fill out and submit the Summer Music Program Scholarship Form. The application is a Google Form and requires you to:
Answer questions about your high school music experience
Submit an essay on “Why This Summer Program Will Benefit My Musical Growth.” This essay should be no more than two double spaced typewritten pages.
Submit GPA information
In addition, the application needs endorsement from your Music Director.
Students should request endorsement in plenty of time for your Music Director to submit his endorsement to MusicFoundationRHS@gmail.com by the due date.
All Summer Music Program Scholarship Application forms and endorsements must be received by midnight on April 30, 2023. Late or partial applications will not be considered.
The Scholarship Committee will consist of at least three members, approved by the Executive Board:
The President or Vice President of the Reservoir High School Music Foundation (or a designee).
The Scholarship Chairperson, appointed by the Executive Committee.
At least one member At Large.
(No member of the Reservoir High School staff or parent of an applicant may serve on the Scholarship Committee.)
The Scholarship Committee will review each application to determine that each applicant has met the eligibility requirements and has submitted all of the required supporting documentation. The Scholarship Committee will then evaluate each of the following in making its determination.
The applicant’s level of participation in the Music Department only. (Participation as cast member of musical, sports activities, Honor Roll, Student-of-the-month, etc. will not be considered.)
The applicant’s participation in extracurricular and non-school musical activities.
The applicant’s Grade Point Average.
Endorsement by a Music Director.
The applicant’s essay, “Why This Summer Program Will Benefit My Musical Growth.”
MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP AWARD ANNOUNCEMENT
Recipients of the Summer Music Program Scholarship will be announced at the end of the year music banquet.
MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP VERIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
After successful completion of the summer music program, please submit documentation to: Treasurer, Reservoir High School Music Foundation, 11550 Scaggsville Road, Fulton, Md 20759. You can also send the documentation as attachments to firstname.lastname@example.org
Appropriate documentation must include; the summer music program enrollment form and the receipt, the name to which the check should be written, the address where the check should be mailed, and a phone number or email address in case of questions. A Disbursement Request form may also be used with the documentation attached. Upon verification, reimbursement will be issued.
It is the student recipient’s responsibility to submit the required documentation for reimbursement within the appropriate time frame.
If the student elects not to attend the Summer Music Program after he/she has been accepted and has been awarded a Summer Music Program scholarship, the student must notify the Scholarship Committee as soon as possible.
